I have been writing this story for about seven years off and on again.
It will be a story about a great samurai and his apprentice. The twist being, that the samurai is a pacifist, but not a passive pacifist. An active one. Wandering the land, solving people’s problems and confronting adversaries. His martial techniques are inspired by a certain martial art called Aikido. An art that focuses on controlling aggression without injuring the attacker.
I already have a general idea as to what the progression of events will be, but I still have to write and illustrate the final pieces. While the first chapter shown here is still somewhat primitive, I’m sure my skills as an artist and writer will improve over the time I use to create this comic.
The final images and text were drawn digitally on Krita. I drew the sketch and final lines on an ASUS ZenBook laptop, with a stylus. The text, speech bubbles, and shape fills were done on my desktop computer.
You can download a pdf of the comic here.

My Process
In my process, I go through six steps to create my comics.
- I write the script
- I assemble the storyboard
- I sketch the final project
- I draw the final lines
- Fill in shapes with black, white and grey
- Add text and speech bubbles
